This course examines tourism products as experiences, and the development of new product-experiences as part of the larger tourism industry within a destination. In this project, students from the Tourism & Hospitality Management Program will develop new tourism ventures, or diversify current business offerings for your organization.

Requirements

Based on organizational goals for new products or product diversification, students will conduct secondary market research to create a business plan you can implement in your organization. Research will be conducted using a variety of approaches, including:

  • Industry profile and outlook
  • Competitor analysis (SWOT)
  • Target market analysis
  • Pricing strategy
  • Marketing strategy
  • Operations analysis (HR, Legal issues, Risk assessment)
  • Financial forecasting

  • Target market assessment, feasibility study, or business plan for a new tourism/leisure business (e.g. a new recreation program for a community centre, or a re-vamped hotel rewards program).
