Bring on one or more students from Saskatchewan Polytechnic in the Computer Engineering Technology program to work virtually, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the work term period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.
Students are available for work terms starting August 31 – December 31, 2021 with a flexible start date up to November 1.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, student placements will initially occur virtually. And we request that students complete a minimum of 320 hours either full time or part time. Students can complete up to 600 hours of work for your company.
We request that some form of compensation is provided to the student. We are seeking paid experience via stipend, honorarium or hourly pay but are open to discussing unpaid opportunities as well. Typical hourly wage would be $19-30/hour.
Learners
Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the project. The student should complete a minimum of 320 hours with your organization by December 31, 2021
Graduates of our program have been successfully employed under the supervision of senior technologists, or engineering in design and testing of sub-systems, maintenance of equipment at customer sites, and the development of specialized products.

Project Examples
Requirements
Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the work term, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.
Students have training in theory and laboratory practice in the field of computer engineering technology and digital electronics with an emphasis on hardware. Throughout the program, students have acquired:
- A good knowledge of electrical and electronic fundamentals.
- Thorough understanding of digital hardware.
- Working knowledge of a number of computer languages and computer systems, assemblers and high level languages.
- A firm understanding of computer peripherals and interfacing, and digital data transmission.
Projects that students can complete will vary depending on your company's needs.
