This course provides an introduction to tourism as an industry and a phenomenon. Topics covered during the semester will include the economic, social, environmental and political environment in which tourism operates at a global and local level.. In this project, students from the Tourism & Hospitality Management Program will work with your business to diagnose a problem or opportunity, identify possible solutions, make recommendations.

Project examples

Starting this September, a group of five student-consultants will develop a thorough action plan for a project of your choosing. You should have a specific project in mind and some ideas about the scope.

Project examples related to marketing, planning and development strategies include but are not limited to:

  • New Product or service launch
  • New Brand
  • New Training roll out
  • Analysis of developing and current trends
  • Policy change management
  • Sales Strategy

Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

  • Q1 - Checkbox
    Minimum of 2-4 interactions with the students in-person or remotely (approximately 4-6 hours over the duration of the project). Student will work independently on this project with minimal guidance.
  • Q2 - Checkbox
    Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
  • Q3 - Checkbox
    Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.
