Working in groups of 5, undergraduate business students in their 4th year will apply quantitative tools and applied methodologies from operations research to analyze your business with the goal of improving operational processes and service delivery.
Students can apply their knowledge to virtually any area within your business's operations. They will use various tools from operations research (e.g., linear, nonlinear and stochastic optimization, goal programming, deterministic and dynamic programming, decision analysis, simulation) to identify areas where your processes can be improved or your operations streamlined.
This outside perspective can provide insights that will allow your business to increase operational efficiency, improve the quality and consistency of your business's products or services, and decrease risk in your operations.
Possible areas of focus include, but are not limited to:
- Transportation and Routing
- Inventory Management
- Aggregate Planning
- Asset Allocation
