I am a Health Studies student at the University of Toronto. I became interested in the field of Health Studies thanks to an elective course I took my first year. I was very passionate about the issues surrounding healthcare systems, its effects on populations, and most importantly, how to work towards resolving these issues. This passion and interest led to me changing my major from Computer Science to Health studies. I hope to be able to work in the field of public health in the future and want to be able to make some sort of improvement to healthcare systems, not only in Canada, but worldwide through global health efforts.

Green Events Coordination for Youth, BIPOC and Newcomers
The Green Career Centre’s mission is to prepare youth, BIPOC and newcomers for green careers. In order to secure the future we need for a just, inclusive and prosperous future we have to work directly with underserved communities that are impacted by the climate crisis. With a climate justice lens and through ongoing consultations and focus groups, the Green Career Centre bridges the disconnect between these underserved communities and green careers in sustainability. We offer resources, events, and a strong network of support in order to integrate underserved communities into the green labour market in what is currently Canada.

Work experience
Events Coordinator
Green Career Centre
November 2022 - Current
As an Events Coordinator, I work on outreach, planning, research, and preparing materials for our in-person and online events.
Freelance Captioner
Rev
June 2021 - Current
I work on many projects that require precise captioning according to the guidelines set out by Rev. This is an important task as I have to ensure accuracy of the captions as they are an important accessibility tool, so there is a sense of responsibility involved with every project I complete. The projects are time sensitive, so I have to be more efficient and effective with my time while also delivering good results.

IB CAS Project - Mockumentary
December 2020 - June 2021
As part of the IB programme, I was required to do a project that includes the aspects of creativity, activity and service. This project came at a time during the pandemic when overall student morale was low and stress was high. As a result, I, along with some of my cohort mates, decided to create a mockumentary about Covid-19. The aim was to create something that would bring joy during a depressing and stressful time, while also being informational so that people would know to take caution and be safe. My main role was in creating the script, so I had to take caution and ensure that all the humour would be received well and that the information was accurate and up to date regarding the Covid situation.
Me to We Club
September 2019 - March 2020
I was a part of my high school’s Me to We club, and though some of our initiatives were interrupted due to the covid pandemic, we were still able to achieve quite a lot. Our major initiative was the “we scare hunger” initiative. The aim was to promote and advocate for food donations. We did this mainly through various artwork which followed a halloween theme. I had to decorate donation boxes which were displayed around the school and classrooms. We were able to raise quite a lot of donations and make an impact in our community despite the lockdown restrictions.
Toronto Youth Cabinet - Education Event Team Captain
September 2019 - August 2021
I was a co-captain of the Education Working Group’s Event Team. My role involved initial project research, finding potential sponsors/people willing to work with us, leading online team meetings, and doing outreach for TYC initiatives.
One of the major initiatives I worked on was the mental health initiative; the goal of this initiative was to gain a better sense of student perspectives and opinions about mental health resources, and then advocate to make these resources more accessible. This was a joint initiative with the urban working group and the media team. Interviews of current students were conducted, which were then filtered and compiled into short 2-3 minute videos.
TYC’s period poverty initiative is also something I had an active role in. I had to do preliminary research in order to understand the issues students are facing in regards to access to menstrual products and how we could work to resolve some of these issues. I also had to do research of potential organizations and sponsors willing to support our initiative.
I was also active in community promotion for our ReclaimOurVoice campaign which included press coverage and a petition resulting in action being taken by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
SHN Foundation Fundraiser Volunteer
June 2018 - June 2018
In order to raise funds for the Scarborough Health Network Foundation, tickets were sold to the public and house tours were hosted. My job was to conduct these tours and interact with the donors. The tour consisted of introducing donors to the homeowners and leading them throughout the house while giving information about the house and its features. For certain donors, a car tour was also included which involved a showing and giving information about the car.
